“The Hotline: What's Hot Right Now?” is a series of educational seminars designed to shed light on ethical issues that many attorneys face daily.Program Summary:
In Vignette One of “The Hotline, Episode 19,” titled “Hot Topics,” the issues raised include safeguarding property in today's wired world, obligations to prepare for and monitor for cyber breaches, obligations post cyber breach, disaster recovery planning in light of ABA Formal Opinion 482, and the obligations firms might have to foster attorney wellness.
In Vignette Two, titled “The Bar Report” the topics presented include ethical obligations that can arise when data is shared with others outside of the firm, fee dispute resolution, exploring the ethical boundaries with the use of geolocation tools, and business email compromise (BEC) prevention.
Finally in Vignette Three, titled “Phone Calls” we’ll conclude the presentation by exploring ethical concerns associated with the “license rental” legal services model, litigation financing, and dealing with lawyer incivility.A Sampling of Attendee Takeaways:
